Overview

After 21 consecutive years on the air as a four-week, Black History quiz show series, “Know Your Heritage” debuted as a weekly, half-hour series featuring high school students from the greater Chicagoland area. 2010 is the 31st consecutive season of “Know Your Heritage”.

Official Endorsement

“Know Your Heritage” has the official endorsement of the Chicago Board of Education and the Chicago Public High Schools.

Ethnic Theme

“Know Your Heritage” seeks to educate and showcase people of all ethnicities and cultures in a positive format. Based on research done by a number of different children advocacy groups, it has been found that children need to see positive images of their own race on television.

High School Students in Healthy Competition

“Know Your Heritage” is one of the few programs that promotes positive images and provides worthwhile activities for our high school students by using an exciting quiz show setting.

Educational Scholarships

“Know Your Heritage” provides scholarships and major prize money to help winners further their college educations. Over its 31-year history, more that $100,000 in scholarships has been awarded to high school students of all ethic groups, who participate in this event, which is a valuable learning experience.
