Synopsis

A half-hour quiz show where high school students of different backgrounds compete for scholarships and prizes.

The game will feature questions about a variety of cultures and ethnic groups, including, African, Asian, Hispanic, Irish, Italian, Jewish, Native American, and Polish.

Background

After 19 consecutive years on the air as a four-week, Black history quiz show series, "Know Your Heritage" is expanded to a 52-week, multi-cultural quiz show series. In January 2000, "Know Your Heritage" debuted as a weekly, half-hour series featuring high school students from the greater Chicago land area.

Format

"Know Your Heritage" is produced as a quiz show on location at various high schools in the Chicago area. Students answer historical and contemporary questions on various cultures and ethnic groups, such as Latinos, Asians, Irish, Polish, Native Americans, Italians, and African Americans.

Ethnic Theme

"Know Your Heritage" highlights ethnic themes and holidays, such as Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Columbus Day, St. Patrick's Day, and other holidays of major importance.

Official Endorsement

"Know Your Heritage" has the official endorsement of the Chicago Board of Education and the Chicago Public High Schools.

Prizes and Scholarships

"Know Your Heritage" provides scholarships and major prize money to help student winners further pursue higher education. Other prizes include trophies, plaques, medals, apparel, interactive video games and all expense paid trip to Disney World.

"Know Your Heritage" is one of the few programs that promotes positive images and provides worthwhile activities for our high school students by using an exciting quiz show setting.

"Know Your Heritage" provides scholarships and major prize money to help student winners their college education. Over its 20-year history, more than $100,000 in scholarships has been awarded to high school students graduates, who have participated in this valuable learning experience.
